How do you replace brake pads on a 1997 kia sopia?

Mine is a 98 but they should be the same. There are two rubber boots on the inside of the caliper. Pop off the caps on the end and it gives you access to the Allen head bolts that hold the caliper on. Remove the caliper and wire it up so it doesn't hang from the brake hose. Now you can remove the pads. To get the caliper to fit back over the rotor you have to compress the caliper piston in to make up for the new pads. I use large c-clamp.

How do you replace the disk brake pads on a 1997 ford aspire?

jack it up remove the wheel, use a big screw driver to pry the pads apart, this will push the caliper piston back into the caliper, you will need the room for the thicker pads. you will find two wire clips. make note of where they are before you remove them. one clip will pass through both pins the pads slip on to. the other has one of the pins through it and it clips between the pads to keep them spread apart. Like I said take good notes or better yet I took pictures. If you can get the wire clip out of the pins you are lucky. If not chisel them off and get a brake hardware kit it will have new ones. You can then tap from the inside the pins out of the caliper with a punch. Pull them out and the shoes come straight up out of the caliper. To reassemble you reverse this order. Make sure your bushings (the two bolts with rubber boots move freely. If not that may be why you are doing brakes now. If they do not move then you need to replace them if you can get them out ...otherwise you will need new calipers at about 66 bux each for good ones. If you would rather replace the calipers and/or remove them to put the pads in it's not much harder. You just remove the 2 bolts that have pass through the slides (the ones with rubber boots on them). Then tap the caliper off with a brass hammer but be careful of the hose. If you get calipers at CARGO you get all the hardware you need minus the pads and brake fluid you need to bleed them. I Have picture if you get lost. [email protected]et good luck.
